Tara Anglican School for Girls is an independent day and boarding school in North Parramatta, Sydney, offering the International Baccalaureate (PYP, MYP, DP) alongside the Australian Curriculum. Founded in 1897 in Parramatta by Mary Elizabeth Waugh, Tara preserves its Anglican tradition and values as a guiding framework for learning and community life. The Mount Arcadia site has housed the Senior School since 1959. The campus features a Chapel, Eggleton House (boarding), an Astronomy Centre and Observatory, a Performing Arts Centre and Theatre, a Visual Arts Complex, plus science, hospitality and learning-resource facilities. On-site health, dining, before/after-school care and flexible learning spaces support student wellbeing and independent study. Extensive sport facilities include a 25-metre indoor pool, gym, six courts and two ovals, with a Rowing Shed overlooking Parramatta River. ATAR highlights for the Class of 2023 show 28% over 95, 57% over 90, and 78% over 80. Top ATAR of 99.5 was achieved by three students, 52 students were named on the HSC Distinguished Achievers List, and eight students were All Round Achievers. The cohort ranked 30th in SMH Top 100 Schools; 155 Band 6 results (90+) were achieved from a cohort of 76, and over 90% received early entry offers to university.
The school prepares girls for entry into the country's top universities as well as international learning institutions. Over 90% of the 2023 cohort received an early entry offer to a university or college course.
The Space Odyssey Team is Tara's gifted and talented astronomy program, developed through the Tara Astronomy Centre and working directly with Oxford University scientists, leveraging the Global Jet Watch telescope.
1. Submit a completed enrolment application form with a non-refundable payment of $220 along with your daughter's Birth Certificate (translated and certified if applicable), current school reports (if applicable), and a valid Immunisation Certificate from Medicare. If your daughter was born outside Australia but is now a citizen, include a Citizenship Certificate. For temporary or permanent residents, attach a copy of the passport and visa. The application is an expression of interest and does not guarantee a place at Tara Anglican School for Girls.
2. The Enrolments Team will contact you after receiving your application to guide you through the next steps. They will confirm any additional documentation required, discuss vacancies for your daughter's year group, and outline the interview process. They will provide timelines for interviews and subsequent steps.
3. Offers of enrolment are made once the interview process is complete and Tara Anglican School for Girls' enrolment requirements are met. The timeline depends on interview outcomes and the verification of requested documents. If successful, families will receive details about acceptance and next steps.
4. Offers of enrolment must be accepted or declined within seven days of receipt. If accepted, families will proceed to the acceptance process and provide any additional documentation as required. The deadline ensures timely confirmation and planning for the school and family.
5. Upon accepting, complete and return the acceptance paperwork and provide any additional supporting documentation as required. The Enrolments Team will advise of any further steps to finalise the enrolment. Timelines for completion will be provided.
6. At the time of acceptance, a non-refundable enrolment fee of $3,000 is payable. The fee includes a $300 lifetime membership to the Tara Old Girls' Association, $1,250 for the Foundation Endowment Fund, and $750 allocated to the Foundation Scholarship Fund. This payment completes the acceptance requirements.
7. Following confirmation of enrolment, families are included in orientation programs designed to assist the daughter's transition to Tara Anglican School for Girls. Orientation covers campus routines, student life, and key administrative processes. Families are invited to engage with the Tara community during this transition.
Senior Years Scholarships (IBDP/HSC) and Boarding Scholarships for 2027 are open. Academic and Music Scholarship Applications for 2027 are now closed. Academic All Rounder Scholarships for girls entering Years 7 or 9 are now closed. Music Scholarships for Year 7 are now closed. Regional Boarding Scholarship for girls entering Years 7-11 is now open. Senior Years Scholarship IBDP/HSC is open for Year 10 entrants (Year 11 start) who intend to complete senior studies at Tara. Scholarships are offered based on merit and may be granted at the Principal's discretion. Only applicants who are successful in being offered a scholarship will be invited to an interview. An application for scholarship does not guarantee entry to the School. Scholarships may cover partial or full remission of tuition fees or boarding fees (excluding extras). Enrolments are non-selective; girls are placed on the enrolment list in the order of the date on which applications are received. Offers of enrolment are made after the interview process and once enrolment requirements are met.
