Application and Enrollment Fees

Capital / Registration Fee (new students)

- Total new‑student Capital Fee: US$ 17,500 (non‑refundable). The Capital Fee may be paid in staged amounts for Pre‑K entrants according to the entry point:

Other recurring or one‑off fees and common additional costs

- Annual Development Fee: US$ 1,000 (non‑refundable) payable as part of the first invoice; applicable to Grades 1–12.

Billing schedule and payment terms

- Payment currency and invoicing: All school invoices are issued in US dollars. Cash is not accepted for school fees. Accepted payment instruments for school fee invoices are cheque, international wire transfer, or pay order payable to "American International School Dhaka." BDT payments are allowed only with prior written approval from the Business Office and are converted at the school's monthly rate (with provisions for recomputing in case of significant currency devaluation).
- Full‑year payment (Option 1): Full tuition is due by June 30 of the invoiced year.
- Two‑installment payment (Option 2): First installment (50% of annual tuition) plus the US$ 1,200 service charge due by June 30; second installment (remaining 50%) due by November 1. Students may not attend second‑semester classes until second‑semester fees are settled.
- For new students, first invoice will include Tuition + Capital Fee + Service Charge (if applicable) minus the seat deposit; payment of the required components must meet the new‑student timelines specified. For continuing students, the first invoice includes Tuition + Development Fee + Service Charge (if applicable) minus the re‑enrolment deposit.

Refund and withdrawal terms

- Written notice requirement: A withdrawal notice must be sent in writing to the Admissions Office and the relevant Principal at least 14 calendar days before the withdrawal date; the school will issue a Withdrawal Form and will not release records until the form is completed and all fees and dues are settled. Campus ID cards must be returned on the final day; any remaining card balance will be refunded then.
- Refund outcomes by withdrawal date (continuing students):
- By April 30: re‑enrolment deposit refunded in full.
- By June 30: tuition refunded in full; re‑enrolment deposit is forfeited for continuing students.
- After June 30 but before the first day of school: 80% of tuition refunded.
- First day of school through October 31: second‑semester tuition refunded (that is, first‑semester tuition retained).
- After November 1: no refund.
- New students who withdraw after fee settlement but before the first day of school: tuition refunded in full less the seat deposit. Boarding

Curriculum

AISD follows IB (PYP and DP) and American Diploma curriculums. The IB Diploma Programme is offered for Grades 11–12, and AISD also offers the AISD High School Diploma as a graduation option. There are three high school pathways: High School Diploma (HSD); HSD + International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) courses; or IBDP. The IB Diploma Programme requires six subjects across groups, plus Theory of Knowledge (ToK) and the Extended Essay; a minimum of 24 points earns the IB Diploma. English is the medium of instruction, with English as an Additional Language support available as needed. Service Learning is compulsory for all graduating AISD students; students not participating in the IB Extended Essay must complete a Senior Project.

Student Teacher Ratio

435 students are enrolled and 76 faculty members are on staff, giving an approximate student-to-faculty ratio of 5.7 to 1.

Exam Results

The Class of 2025 had a 100% graduation rate. The IB Diploma Programme is the basis of study for the final two years; students on the IBDP Pathway must earn a minimum of 24 points to be awarded the Diploma. AISD reports IB Diploma results and monitors predicted and actual IB scores to inform teaching and learning and external reporting.

Higher Education Progression

AISD states that its high school curriculum enables students to pursue higher education in the United States, Canada and elsewhere around the world. Admissions

Step One: Submitting an Application. Submit an online Application Form and upload all required documents. All records must be in English; translations must be verified by an official translator; parents may not translate records. A completed online application includes a language survey, confidential teacher recommendations sent directly from the current school, health information, immunization records, transcripts for the past three years, standardized test scores, passport and visa copies for the student and both parents, any evaluations, and any documents AISD requests. There is a one-time application processing fee of US$350, payable online or in Dhaka; online payments incur a 3.99% processing fee; submitting an online application does not guarantee admission. Step Two: Placement Assessments. All students from Pre-K3 to Grade 10 complete placement testing. For Pre-K3 and PreK4, on-campus individual screening sessions are required. For KG–Grade 5: virtual MAP testing plus a writing sample, followed by an interview. For Grade 6–Grade 10: virtual MAP testing plus a writing sample, followed by an interview. Step Three: Application Review. After placement tests, the complete file is reviewed by the admissions team for a final decision. Parents are notified of the decision by email. A confirmation of receipt email is sent within three working days after submission of the online application and fee. The working week in Bangladesh is Sunday to Thursday.

Scholarships

Waitlist

AISD does not guarantee seats. Only children of U.S. Government direct hire employees are guaranteed seats provided they meet admissions criteria. Prospective families initiate the process by submitting an online application and paying the US$350 processing fee; the file is added to a pool of candidates.
